Harkness Equipment has over 35 years of experience with outdoor wood heating. In 1979, Jim Harkness became interested in renewable heating sources, specifically wood furnaces. Jim installed a wood boiler in one of his shops, which could handle 18” wood pieces and was tied into his residence heating system. The success with the original wood boiler lead Jim to install another wood boiler that could handle 3’ wood pieces. In 2004, Jim installed the largest model of Wood Doctor wood boilers, which could handle 6’ wood pieces and was tied into his residence and the business’ heating systems. The performance of the Wood Doctor wood boiler lead Jim to have Harkness Equipment become a Wood Doctor (now called Polar Furnace) dealer.
Harkness Equipment began with selling outdoor wood furnaces, but evolved into supplying all your outdoor furnace supplies. In addition to selling the units, Harkness Equipment sells various styles of insulated underground piping, in-floor piping, heat exchangers (either water-to-air or water-to-water), pumps, manifolds, fittings (black, stainless steel, copper), as well as pex compression and shark-bite fittings.
